What Does the Quebec Pay Equity Act Mean?
The Quebec government enacted the Pay Equity Act in 1987 to establish fair compensation practices across the province. The Act sets out the minimum standards that all covered Quebec employers must follow to ensure equitable pay for employees performing comparable work. It applies to both unionized and non-unionized employers with 10 or more employees at any point since the Act came into effect.
